Floralis Genérica is een sculptuur gemaakt uit staal en aluminium en staat op het Plaza de las Naciones Unidas. Het werd door de Argentijnse architect Eduardo Catalano geschonken aan de stad. Catalano zei dat de bloem “zowel een synthese is van alle bloemen als een hoop die elke dag wordt herboren”. Het werd opgericht in 2002 en is ontworpen om te bewegen: ‘s avonds sluiten de bloemblaadjes om ‘s ochtends opnieuw te openen. De constructie weegt achttien ton en is 23 meter hoog.
Floralis Genérica is a sculpture made of steel and aluminum located in Plaza de las Naciones Unidas, Buenos Aires, given as a gift to the city by the Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano. Catalano once said that the flower “is a synthesis of all the flowers and is both a hope that is reborn every day to open.” It was created in 2002. The sculpture was designed to move, closing its petals in the evening and opening them in the morning. The structure weighs eighteen tons and is 23 meters high.
