De Confuciustempel is een plaats om Confucius (551 – 478 voor Christus) te aanbidden, de beroemde filosoof en de stichter van de confucianistische school. De tempel, ook bekend als Wenmiao, ligt in de zuidoostelijke hoek van de oude stad Pingyao. Al in de Tang-dynastie (618 – 908 na Christus) gesticht, is het een van de oudste en op dit moment de best bewaard gebleven in zijn soort in China. Het complex bestaat uit 5 binnenplaatsen van het zuiden naar het noorden met een oppervlakte van 35.811 vierkante meter en twee zijhoven in het oosten en het westen.
Confucius Temple is a place to worship Confucius (551 – 478 BC), a famous philosopher, educator and the founder of the Confucian school. The Confucius Temple, aka Wenmiao in Pingyao is located in the southeast corner of Pingyao Ancient Town. Founded as early as in the Tang Dynasty (618 – 908 AD), it is one of the oldest and currently the best-preserved of its kind in China. It mainly consists of 5 courtyards from south to the north with an area of 35,811 square meters (42,830 square yards) and two side courtyards to its east and west.
