Ishite-ji is de beroemdste tempel van de stad en is het nummer 51 van 88 tempels op de Shikoku-bedevaart. Pelgrims gekleed in het wit zijn een frequent zicht in deze grote tempel. Ishite-ji staat bekend om zijn Niomon Gate, een nationale schat. De grote zaal en de pagode zijn eveneens belangrijke culturele monumenten, en al deze structuren vertonen de typische architectuurstijl van de 13e eeuw. Van verder belang, Ishite-ji bevat bovendien een innerlijke tempel, gelegen boven een grot. De slecht verlichte grot is ongeveer 200 meter lang, vertakt in twee richtingen en huisvest vele boeddhistische beelden, gravures en tekeningen. Bezoekers die uit de grot komen vinden een grote, gouden koepelvormige hal met relieken van Boeddha.

The main hall and pagoda are also designated important cultural properties, and all of these structures exhibit the typical architecture style of the 13th century. Of further interest, Ishite-ji hosts a curious looking inner temple located beyond a cave behind the main hall. The dimly lit cave is about 200 meters long, branching off in two directions and housing many Buddhist statues, carvings and drawings. Visitors who emerge from the cave and cross a street will arrive at the slightly unkempt inner temple grounds, which feature a large, golden dome-shaped hall.
