De Süleymaniye-moskee is de grootste moskee in Istanbul en werd gebouwd in opdracht van Sultan Süleyman (Süleyman de Grote). De bouw begon in 1550 en de moskee werd voltooid in 1558.
The Süleymaniye Mosque is the largest mosque in the city. It was built on the order of Sultan Süleyman (Süleyman the Magnificent). The construction work began in 1550 and the mosque was finished in 1558.
