Het Piazza del Campo is de belangrijkste openbare ruimte van het historische centrum van Siena en wordt beschouwd als één van Europa’s mooiste middeleeuwse pleinen. Het is wereldwijd bekend om haar schoonheid en architecturale schoonheid. Het Palazzo Pubblico en de Torre del Mangia staan, evenals diverse palazzi rondom het schelpvormige plein. Aan de noordwestelijke rand ligt de Fonte Gaia. Twee keer per jaar worden rond de randen van het plein de paardenrennen, de Palio, gehouden.

Piazza del Campo is the principal public space of the historic center of Siena and is regarded as one of Europe’s greatest medieval squares. It is renowned worldwide for its beauty and architectural integrity. The Palazzo Pubblico and its Torre del Mangia, as well as various palazzi surround the shell-shaped piazza. At the northwest edge is the Fonte Gaia. The twice-a-year horse-race, Palio di Siena, is held around the edges of the piazza.
