Taung Kalat, een steile, vulkanische stomp, ligt 737 meter boven de zeespiegel . Het wordt beschouwd als de verblijfplaats van Myanmar’s meest krachtige Nats (geesten) en daardoor is dit het belangrijkste centrum om nats te aanbidden. Het wordt ook wel eens de Mount Olympus van Myanmar genoemd.
Taung Kalat, a sheer-sided volcanic plug, rises 737 metres above the sea level. It is considered the abode of Myanmar’s most powerful Nats (spirits) and as such is the most important nat worship center. It has therefore been called Myanmar’s Mount Olympus.
